UGA Researchers Lead Workshop for Potential Food Product Developers

Potential new food product developers from across the state learned the process of creating, packaging and launching a new food product at the University of Georgia’s New Food Business Workshop, held Oct. 6-7 on the university’s Griffin Campus. Read more here.

Starting a New Food Business Workshop

On October 6 and 7, 2015 the UGA Griffin Food PIC will hold a workshop to address the needs and concerns of start-up food entrepreneurs.  Topics will include food safety and sanitation and meeting GDA and FDA regulations, as well as other challenges faced by those who wish to market new food products.  Read more here.

Dr. Kirk Kealey Named as FoodPIC Director

Dr. Kirk Kealey, Director of UGA Griffin FoodPICDr. Kirk Kealey has been selected as the new director for the Food Product, Innovation and Commercialization Center. Dr. Kealey came to UGA from PEPSICO Corporation in New York, where he was the research and development director for global raw material food safety and senior research and development manager for international new product development. FoodPIC Elects Board Chair

Horace Hamilton, newly elected FoodPIC Board ChairThe Food Product Innovation and Commercialization (FoodPIC) Center at the University of Georgia Griffin campus is pleased to announce Horace Hamilton as its new Board Chair.  Hamilton accepted the appointment at the Board of Advisors’ January 8, 2013 on-site meeting.  Twelve board members representing various sectors of the Georgia food industry, along with UGA faculty and affiliates, were present for an informative meeting and facility tour.

Horace Hamilton is Vice President of Merchandising of The Kroger Company’s Atlanta Division.  He is responsible for merchandising for more than 200 Kroger stores in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina.  Hamilton is a member of UGA’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Advisory Council, and he is also chairman of the Georgia Food Industry Association’s Board of Directors.
